Updates & News

June 6, 2017

6/7/2017

Your Rector Search Committee has Great News to share!

After more than a year of meeting weekly, praying, talking, researching, interviewing, visiting, and discerning, we have almost concluded our work. Our Vestry tasked this committee with following a discernment process to identify three candidates who can become Rectors for our Parish.
We do not choose who will be our Rector, that decision belongs to the Vestry. We followed the long and wonderful process, we became a cohesive and strong group, and continued until we arrived at a consensus. We identified three candidates who all can equally be an excellent fit as St. Luke's Rector. We have done it!

Our next task is to organize a retreat with the Vestry, so we can hand off the three candidates. Preparing the retreat and the materials will keep us busy for the following weeks. We will have our retreat with the Vestry on Sunday, June 25th after attending the 8 a.m. service. In this retreat we will detail the discernment prep work, how we worked with the diocese to open the position to candidates, the process of getting a list of candidates, the process of discernment that led to identifying the top three candidates, and presenting these three candidates to the Vestry. Once we hand over the portfolio of each of the final three candidates to the Vestry, our work will be done.

Confidentiality remains an important issue. We cannot reveal the names or identities of any candidates, so, please, don't ask us. We cannot speak about it.

Please, keep praying for the process, for the retreat, for the Vestry, and for our candidates. The Vestry's work will increase in the following months. Let us keep them in our prayers, for God's strength, wisdom, and guidance as they continue with the discernment process. They have much to do, and their decision will determine the future of St. Luke's. This is a heavy responsibility. Let's support them with our love and prayers.
