What helps us to build relationships in our community? We identified the following ministries as part of this group – which was previously known as Fellowship: Episcopeeps, Wholly Pages Book Group, 30’& 40’s Group, Women’s Spirituality Group, Foyers Dinners, Gay Men’s Fellowship, Summer House Church, Ashanti, Satsang Meditation.
Parish Music/Liturgy/Worship Conversation – April 3, 2016
What do we value about our worship experience at St. Luke’s? Music proved to be a strong component of our worship and liturgy. The ministries we talked about were: Worship, LEMs, Lectors, Vergers, Acolytes, Thurifers, Sermons, Music, Choir, Liturgy, Sound and Lighting, Taizé Service, LGBT Coming Out Service, Ushers, Oblation Bearers, Flowers, Mid-week Eucharist and Healing Service, Altar Guild, Candlemas and Wine in-gatherings, Vestments.
Parish Outreach Ministries Conversation – April 10, 2016
How do we serve our neighbors, our larger community, beyond our walls? We had a robust conversation about the following community ministries: Brass Rubbings, Homeless Prayer, Shower Program, Pre-School, African Team Ministries, Manna Meals, Health Ministries, Legacy Society, Communications (electronic & social media), Garden Ministries (mobile & community), Archive Committee, Global Aids Interfaith Alliance (GAIA). In addition, we discussed the Wini Carter Scholarship for Community Service and the Ugandan Refugee Resettlement Program.
What are we doing that nurtures the life of our parish? We have many hopes and dreams to expand this area which includes: Children, Youth, Stewardship, Welcoming, Pastoral Visitors, Daughters of the King, Our Bookstore, Hospitality, Advocacy, Spiritual Formation.
We welcomed a final conversation for those who had not been able to participate in earlier gatherings – and to cover topics that had been left out of the other meetings. Our final list of ministries included: Taizé, Spanish Ministry, Earth Health, Grey Panthers, Men’s Fellowship, Dinner Foyers, Summer House Church, Health Ministry, Shower Program, Outreach, Altar Guild/Ushers/Counters, Women of St Luke’s, Adult Education, and Zydeco Mass.
Parish Spanish Community Conversations – April 17 & 24, 2016
Two conversations were conducted in Spanish to discuss their important presence in our church. These meetings revealed their commitments and ideas as well as their hopes and dreams for the future.
